Why is the American Motorcycle Association rallying against E15?

Here’s our statement on the American Motorcycle Association’s rally against E15:

The absurdity of the American Motorcycle Association’s rally against E15 boggles the mind. It is a protest against the existence of a useful product not meant for motorcycle use, precisely because you can’t put it in a motorcycle. They might as well protest windshield washer fluid, bubblegum, or any other product found at a gas station that’s not meant to go to in a motorcycle tank.

Americans rarely ingest sunscreen or put laundry detergent in the dishwasher because they know how to read labels. We trust them to do the same when it comes to the most tested fuel in history—E15.

It’s puzzling that the AMA has decided to single out the one fuel that is clearly labeled as not suitable for use in motorcycles as a menace to our entire transportation sector. American motorcyclists have been correctly choosing at the pump between higher octane blends and other products unsuitable for motorcycles, such as diesel and lower octane blends, for years. Why should the choice between a premium fuel and a clearly labeled alternative be any different?
