Reddit user nigelandtheghost attached a GoPro to his dog to find out what they did when left the house. Turns out the dog has super bad separation anxiety!

I was pretty sure he was going to play guitar in his underwear or solve crimes or something.

For his final press conference of 2014, President Obama exclusively called on female reporters. The White House had planned it that way:

By the eighth and final question, Obama even appeared to ignore a male reporter’s attempt to participate. The result was amazing. Watch below:

The brothers Woodhouse sit staunchly on opposite ends of the political spectrum. They regularly take to C-SPAN to publicly squabble over their ideological differences. Their mother, Joy Woodhouse, has finally had enough:

“Oh god it’s mom,” a slightly panicked Dallas Woodhouse mumbles upon realizing the next caller is their mother.

Watch below as Mrs. Woodhouse awesomely takes down her sons’ political bickering:

Beijing Bastard

By Val Wang

GOTHAM BOOKS

In her drifter memoir of leaving home in order to find it, Chinese American author Val Wang struggles between head and heart as she tries to make a living—and a life—in Beijing, burdened by the expectations of her forebears yet buoyed by the spirit of youth. In the process, she shows us a China full of contradictions: at once glamorous and grungy, ancient and modern, ambitious and loafing.

The Great State Of California Will Not Be Split Into Six Mediocre States

Mother Jones

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN” “http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/loose.dtd”>

One day a lemming will fly. That day is not today:

Backers of a much-publicized initiative to split California into six separate states failed to collect enough valid signatures to qualify the measure for the November 2016 ballot. the secretary of state’s office said Friday.

Supporters of the Six Californias measure sponsored by Tim Draper, a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, turned in more than 1.13 million signatures. But a statewide sampling showed that only 752,685 of them were from voters registered in California, short of the 807,615 needed to qualify for the ballot, the secretary of state said.

Happy Friday!

Methinks someone on the EPA’s social team is logged into the department’s brand account on their iPhone…

If someone gets fired over this harmless mistake I will be genuinely outraged but I think it’s ok for all of us to have a harmless chuckle.

Life Is Meaningless

Mother Jones

Hello. Good day.

How are you? Are you feeling alive? Are you feeling like life is worth living? Perhaps there is a bounce in your step? Optimism in your eye? Are you eager to embrace the world as it is today and forge an even better one in the smithy of tomorrow?

Good luck with that:

There’s a new app called Yo that does simply that: It sends your friends a “Yo” notification with a tiny little robotic voice.

It’s hard to take the app seriously, after all the app was created in only eight hours, but Yo already has 50,000 users who have sent approximately 4 million Yos.

The team has also already raised $1 million in funding.

In unrelated news, more than 1.5 million households in America live on $2.00 a day.

Have a nice day.
