Update 5:09 p.m. EDT: The Daily Beast reports that Fox News walked back on its statement that Ailes had left the company. 21st Century Fox just released this statement following recent reports:

Fox News CEO Roger Ailes will reportedly be leaving the company and various outlets suggest that he may receive a $40 million buyout, according to the Drudge Report and the Daily Beast. Ailes had been under an internal investigation by 21st Century Fox after a sexual harassment and wrongful termination lawsuit by former anchor Gretchen Carlson. The Daily Beast says that it later confirmed with Fox News that Ailes had been fired.

Earlier today, New York magazine reported that anchor Megyn Kelly had told investigators that she had also been sexually harassed by Ailes.

Donald Trump has long had a boorish reputation when it comes to his treatment of women, something that is now back in the spotlight thanks to the real estate mogul’s tense exchange with Megyn Kelly at Thursday’s GOP debate and subsequent tirade against the Fox News host.

It turns out that even Trump ally Rudy Giuliani, who recently termed Trump’s candidacy “refreshing,” once called out The Donald for his loutish behavior. Of course, Giuliani, then New York’s mayor, was also dressed in drag at the time and was appearing with Trump in a skit filmed for the Inner Circle press dinner in 2000. In the clip, Trump full-on gropes Giuliani, who exclaims, “Oh, you dirty boy,” and slaps the tycoon. Warning: You can’t unsee this.

Fox News Is Breaking Up With Donald Trump. Now He’s Freaking Out on Twitter

We may have Fox News to thank for the meteoric start to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, but could we soon credit the network for its impending doom? Judging by the thorny questions posed by Fox’s moderators during the first Republican primary debate last night, it looks as if the news outlet is initiating the breakup—and Trump is fighting back.

Soon after facing a barrage of pointed questions, the petulant GOP front-runner took to Twitter to slam the news outlet’s moderators with his reliable brand of petty insults:

Republican political consultant Frank Luntz was not the only recipient of his ire. Megyn Kelly called out Trump’s history of insulting women. “You’ve called women you don’t like ‘fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals,'” Kelly said. “Only Rosie O’Donnell,” Trump responded, prompting applause. He then took aim at the Fox News host:

The distancing of Fox News from Trump on Thursday could signal Fox chairman Roger Ailes is finally taking heed of Rupert Murdoch’s attempts to stop Fox from offering an uncritical platform for Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric. And without the support of Fox News, maybe Trump’s presidential ambitions will lose some momentum.
